Springtime Lily

I love reading books ever since I was a little girl! Nowadays I like to give my opinion on books I read, so I've started writing and blogging reviews. Favorites genres; Cozy Mysteries, Mysteries and Biographies.

A Killer Plot

A Killer Plot (A Books by the Bay Mystery, #1) - Ellery Adams, Ellery Adams 'A Killer Plot' by Ellery Adams is the first cozy mystery I read. I had a faint idea what a 'cozy mystery' was and I knew I would like it, but I have to say.... I loved it!

Olivia Limoges is the subject of constant gossip. Ever since she came back to town-a return as mysterious as her departure-Olivia has kept to herself, her dog, and her unfinished novel. With a little cajoling from the eminently charming writer Camden Ford, she agrees to join the Bayside Book Writers, break her writer's block, and even make a few friends...

But when townspeople start turning up dead with haiku poems left by the bodies, anyone with a flair for language is suddenly suspect. And it's up to Olivia to catch the killer before she meets her own surprise ending.

I loved how at the start of the book, you get to see what people think on Olivia Limoges, but I tend to disagree. Olivia really grew on me when she helped out some of her new made friends in the writers club.

The story didn't progress fast, but at a normal pace, you do not get five murdered people or so after each other, but the events are played out nicely in time during the book. It had some unexpected moments and I also loved getting to know more about Olivia's past.

Ellery has a nice writing style, so when you read, you get sucked into the story! Can't wait to read the other books in this series!

Thirteen Problems (Miss Marple)

The Thirteen Problems - Agatha Christie I really liked this book. It's filled with short stories that a group op people, among them Miss Marple, tell to each other. The others need to guess what happened or who did it. Also a nice exercise for yourself if you like to guess 'Who did it?'.

De littekens van mijn leven / druk 3

De littekens van mijn leven - Katie Piper 'I heard a horrible screaming sound, like an animal being slaughtered ... then I realised it was me.'

When Katie Piper was 24, her life was near perfect. Young and beautiful, she was well on her way to fulfilling her dream of becoming a model.
But then she met Daniel Lynch on Facebook and her world quickly turned into a nightmare ...

After being held captive and brutally raped by her new boyfriend, Katie was subjected to a vicious acid attack. Within seconds, this bright and bubbly girl could feel her looks and the life she loved melting away.

Beautiful is the moving true story of how one young woman had her mind, body and spirit cruelly snatched from her and how she inspired millions with her fight to get them back.

I had this book in my To Read list for so long and I finally got the time to read it! I could hit myself for the head not starting sooner. What an amazing book writing by an amazing lady! Katie isn't much older than me, but our lives our so different, yet I also had moments that hit home hard.

When reading I was shocked, surprised, horrified, had some tears coming down and a few laughs as well. Katie wrote very openly about everything and it's an 'easy read', like you're sitting down with her and talking about it.

She is very, very inspiring and many of us can learn something from her. The way she came back from all of this and now is working on her own foundation to help others who did not have all the medical opportunities she had from the start on is great!

This lady never has to shame herself ever! She is beautiful! Character wise as well as looks!

If You Ask Me

If You Ask Me: And of Course You Won't - Betty White I've gotten to know Betty due to 'The Golden Girls'. Still my all-time favorite TV-Series. I just read this book and I love it. The few photos from her private collection are very cool to see.

Reading about her stuffed animal obsession and her huge, HUGE love for animals made me smile. It gave me a 'Rose Nylund' feeling and if possible I love her even more now after this book.
The chapters aren't very long, but that's to be expected with her age. It's a very various book, a look in her personal life but also her spotlight life.
When you read the book, you don't have the feeling you're reading a celebrity book, but a 'girl from the block' book. She is very down to earth and that is something I found to be very clear through this book.

Murder at the Vicarage: A Miss Marple Mystery (Miss Marple Mysteries)

Murder at the Vicarage - Agatha Christie Who has not heard of Agatha Christie and/or Miss Marple? This was the first book I read by Agatha on Miss Marple. I absolutely loved it.
Although I expected Miss Marple to be the leading role, that was not the case in this first book. I thought we would read from her perspective. Nonetheless, this book was a great one and I would certainly recommend it when you like mysteries!

Mary-Kate & Ashley Starring In #5: When in Rome: (When in Rome)

Mary-Kate & Ashley Starring in When in Rome - Megan Stine "Bella Roma! Leila and Charli are about to start their summer jobs at a world-famous fashion house in Rome! and Rome is more amazing than they ever dreamed. The Colosseum ... the Trevi Fountain ... the cute boys ...

But then someone gets them fired on their very first day at work. Leila and Charli have to find out who's responsible -- or their hot Italian summer will be over before it begins."

Loved the movie, loved the book. I've always been a huge fan of the Olsen girls when I was younger. It wasn't easy to get the books in The Netherlands, but I am happy with the ones I have! When in Rome is another feel good movie of the girls.

Gotta read it again and watch the movie again!

Winning London (Mary-Kate & Ashley Starring In, No. 2)

Mary-Kate and Ashley Starring in Winning London - Elizabeth J. Kruger, Karol Ann Hoeffner Loved the story. It's also my favorite movie from the girls, but the book is also a great one to read :D

Made in Germany

Made In Germany - Kaya Yanar
